In true social media fashion, the response is overwhelming. Meanwhile, I posted some lovely garden photos yesterday and get all of 5 comments on them. 😑

This is why social media is so successful, am I right? It’s nice to see you all in my DM’s but please make your way over here from time to time. 😉 I honestly stay away from IG because of the addictive nature, but at the same time I’ve made so many friendships here that I truly value. Here’s some of my random old and new tips + what I’ve been doing to help keep organized with the CMEC.

01. Keep a regular day for nature outings or field trips. We have two days a week where I intentionally plan a hike or museum visit, etc. One is usually at the middle of the week and the other is at the end. It offers great variety to our weeks.

02. Notebook! I have had the girls consistently notebook this year, and it’s been such a delight to go back and see my form 1b student’s progress! I have a video coming out about how we notebook and why you should try it very soon!

03. To stay on track with our morning timetable I’ve been writing the time we end each lesson in my logbook. It’s really changed how productive I am in making sure we get everything on our timetable done for the day. (I have a video on my logbook if you’re interested in learning more about that!)

04. And 05. Popsicle sticks! Friends, if you’re already a CMEC family, use these to help you choose which activities you review! I have on these for old singing games, French songs, folk dances or Swedish drill routines. I’ll share more on what I have on ours, specifically, but it’s fun because the girls and I get to be surprised rather than me choosing what we review!

06. Art instruction. Originally I had us doing three art lessons per week in the afternoon, but it didn’t allow for enough free choice, so we’ve reduced it down to one formal lesson a week for six weeks, then we change the method. So right now we are in week two of our chalkdrawing lessons. After six weeks we will switch to brush drawing instruction for the remainder of the term! As Charlotte Mason recommends, we draw from memory, model, and from imagination. 🌞

Lucky FABB Series: Day 1 Recap

I already shared with you ladies that I was given the wonderful opportunity to attend Lucky FABB (Fashion and Beauty Blogger) Conference this year in Los Angeles. The event took place at the gorgeous Beverly Hills Hotel, and I have to say, the whole thing was so completely inspiring. It was a two day event, and to be honest, my favorite part was the breakout sessions from day 2- there was so much helpful information to be learned! (I’ll share everything about day 2 later this week!) Here is a recap of Day one.
We started the day off with a delicious breakfast, and I met up with some of my favorite blogging ladies. After making our way into the conference room, we had a warm welcome from Brandon Holley, the editor in chief of Lucky, then Kelly Osbourne of Fashion Police graced us with her presence for a few minutes. Something memorable that she said when referring to top trends lately was, “I’m ready for a summer of men’s suits.” I couldn’t agree more!

There were four panel discussions on Day 1: “Your, Voice Louder” was the first, with inspiring creative minds such as Hillary Kerr, and Eva Chen. It was meant to help each and every blogger get tips on how to find their niche in the internet world. My personal favorite was “The Business of Blogging” with the knowledgable and gracious Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere. This panel covered everything from banner ads, sponsored posts, campaigns, and affiliate links. A key takeaway from this panel for me was this:
-How to be successful as a blogger-
1. Find your vision
2. Stay authentic
3. Be passionate

Day one of Lucky FABB ended with a conversation with Drew Barrymore. At first I was very curious as to why she was a speaker at the conference, but when I learned that she’s releasing a cosmetic line called Flower Beauty, everything made sense again! Drew is so amazingly humble and down-to-earth in person. While I didn’t have the opportunity to meet her face-to-face, I just felt that she can be anyone’s best friend, instantly. Something memorable that she said during her interview when referring to her current career choices was, “Women can’t have it all… happiness is a choice.” I definitely agree, and she knows what she’s talking about as a recent mom and aspiring entrepreneur. Women wear many hats! 🙂
Lastly, Betsey Johnson made an appearance, and while her pieces are quite eclectic and quirky, I’ve never been a huge fan. Nonetheless, Betsey seemed very sweet, and eclectic herself, and I love seeing how a designer or artist’s personality directly affects their works of art! I could definitely tell she is authentic and true to herself!

One of the highlights of the conference for me was being able to hang out with my amazing blogger friends (now named Blogsquad) whom I adore dearly. I met each one before the conference, but I was able to introduce Dani, and Emily to my dear friend Brittany. We became super close, and have been “chat room” texting, as I call it, super frequently ever since about anything and everything! I am so unbelievably thankful for blogging and all of the opportunities it holds, but especially for the priceless friendships that I’ve gained from being a blogger!

Lastly, the fact that I was able to meet and chat with THE Beth Jones of B. Jones Style was such an honor! She’s so sweet in person, just as I imagined, and looked absolutely fabulous in her distressed denim dress!
I know this post is a little more lengthy than usual, but I really wanted you, as my reader, to feel like you were right there with me at Lucky FABB! It was an absolute blast. Curious where my outfit is from? You can click here to see all my outfit details from this post! Have an amazing week! Thank you so much for reading!

P.S. Word on the street is GFC is going away! Devastating news, but I don’t want to lose you as a reader! You can follow me via Bloglovin’ here!

Anyways – this conference you went to looks great. I went to BlissDom in March and it was so much fun. Meeting bloggers in real life is such a great experience.

I look forward to reading more of your blog!

I needed to accomplish a lot today. There was more I needed to accomplish a lot today. There was more unpacking and organizing to be done, pictures to be framed, meal planning to do, laundry that needed folding, bike rides to be had, meals to be prepared, sourdough to be prepped and lesson planning + pre-reading to do. Oh and dishes. So many dishes. 😅

I do essentially all of the inside housework aside from taking out the trash + recycle, but for a season my husband helped out while N was small by doing dinner dishes and sometimes even preparing dinner so I could nurse her after we ate. But as of late, I’m trying something new where I don’t ask my husband to clean up after dinner and instead I do it myself. I don’t mind it, and since my girls are old enough to get their own pj’s on now, I’ve been doing dinner clean-up (as well as lunch and breakfast clean-up and prep!) before I head upstairs to tuck them in, read them a story and sit with them while they fall asleep. Call me old fashioned, but I’m happy to do it, and I delight in my husband being able to enjoy some time with the girls after dinner instead of clean up a mess after a long day of working.

I’m not really sure where I’m going with this post - I’ve felt pulled in so many directions today and it’s something I feel often, (and I’m sure so many of you can relate) but after five months without a home to care for and nurture I simply can’t feel frustrated or annoyed at my list of 10,000 things I need to do. Instead I pray my way through each task. I sip tea in between. I light a candle and wear my great-grandmother’s apron as I work. I read notes like the one my six-year-old left for me this morning and I weep tears of gratitude and joy. Happy Sunday, my friends. ❤️
