I am delighted to share with you my diaper bag essentials for summer in this post! My goal as a mom is to make as many memories as I can with Grace. I love spending time with her. This is my second summer as a full-time mom, and let’s just say while I had a great trial run last year, I learned a lot about what I do and don’t need to carry around. I also learned about which products are best for my baby. The summer months can be very trying on our skin, so I’ve discovered a great, natural baby care line by Seventh Generation. Keep reading to learn more!
SUMMER DIAPER BAG ESSENTIALS FOR THE NATURAL MOM
A sunhat and a natural sunscreen. Sun exposure is great for you! (Hello, vitamin D!) But I try to take caution when letting Grace play in the sun for too long. I always pack my natural sunscreen (free of harsh and toxic chemicals) and a sun hat to shield her little face. [Mom Tip: use the same sunscreen as your baby to save on stuff you have to carry! We use an SPF 50.]
A wet bag. This item is actually two-fold. I use wet bags to transport my dirty cloth diapers, but they’re also extremely useful for wet swimsuits or clothes after water play! I typically keep one or two in my diaper bag. Plus they’re much more eco-friendly than using plastic bags. Let’s cut down on waste while we’re having fun this summer 😉
Natural Diaper cream. Diaper cream is so important for keeping little one’s bottom dry. With swimming, splash pad, and other water adventures, a dry bum is pretty important. As you guys know, I’m pretty picky about the products I use on Grace but after carefully inspecting the ingredients of Seventh Generation’s Coconut Care line, I was pleased!
Their whole line is sustainably made from organic coconut oil and I love it because not only is it gentle on Grace’s skin, it’s great for our planet. Using organic coconut oil in products means less damage to our forest habitats and to the animals that live there. This makes my plant-based mama heart so happy.
The diaper cream shields against excessive moisture and was pediatrician-tested for sensitive skin. Coconut oil based anything gets an A+ in my book though 😉
Baby wash and moisturizer for baby. I find myself wanting to rinse Grace off after swimming in pools, so I try to keep a body wash with me, and a moisturizer for afterwards so her skin doesn’t dry out. The products are lightweight and fit easily in my diaper bag.
Seventh Generation’s Coconut Care line makes a diaper cream but they also make a foaming shampoo and body wash and a moisturizing lotion. These products are also made from organic coconut oil so they are extra gentle on baby’s skin. I love that the body wash is sulfate-free and the lotion is non-greasy. Basically this whole line is an answer to my natural mom heart’s desires. The best part is that you can find it at your local Target! Any excuse to go there, right? Haha. [Mom Tip: When I rinse off after pool days or find myself needing some lotion, I just use baby’s! If the products are good for your baby, they’re great for your skin too, right? This cuts down on products you have to carry around.]
Swim diaper. We have several splash pads around our city. There is one in particular that I seem to walk by every time we go to a specific restaurant. Last summer, I felt like I always forgot to bring a swimsuit for Grace so I wasn’t able to let her spontaneously play in the water like she wanted to. I’ve learned my lesson, so I am always sure to keep a swimsuit and even just a swim diaper at the very least. You’ll be the coolest mom around when you pull out their suits impromptu. Cool points for you!
A camera or your phone to document memories. This may seem like common sense, but be sure to document those precious memories! Even if you spend two or three minutes snapping a few pictures, you’ll be glad you did. I really try to make an effort to get photos with my kids! I know we forget that as moms, but make sure to try and snap some selfies at the very least!
Summer allows us to create some of the best memories with our babies and kids! I hope this list of summer diaper bag essentials helps you make more memories, and cherish more moments with your family. As always, thank you so much for reading.
