I know this bumpdate is long overdue! I didn’t share much of my first trimester on social media — mostly because we’ve been super busy the last few months and I didn’t have time to take photos or document. While it makes me a tiny bit sad, I also feel like it was good for me to just focus on our family and Grace. She needed it, and now that we are all settled I’m ready to spill!
17 WEEK PREGNANCY UPDATE:
Baby is the size of a turnip! Weighing in at around 5 ounces, I’ve been feeling all of the kicks and flutters. Baby is also most active at night — just like Grace was! I really wish I fit into my clothes, but those days are long gone for now. I packed up my “small” clothes and hope to fit into them sometime next year, haha.
Overall, I’m feeling great emotionally. I can’t wait to announce the gender. I’m having all the feels about that. I promise it’s coming soon! I’m not as sad as I thought I’d be about having Grace not be my only babe. I’m strangely excited to see how well she does with having a little brother or sister.
During the first trimester, all I ate was carbs. I’m talking breakfast burritos, sourdough bread with earth balance, and bagel sandwiches. I’m obsessed with bread. I also had a major aversion to greens or pretty much any healthy food (even my smoothies that I’m obsessed with) Luckily now that I’m in the second trimester, I’ve tapered off on the bread, and I’m back to my old eating habits now (with a sweet treat thrown in there every so often). I do indulge more and try to listen to my body’s needs. I believe in that 100%.
My midwife mentioned the flu shot and I’m glad to report that I will not be getting that. I will, however, practice good hygiene, wash my hands, eat a mostly whole foods diet, and take my probiotics and prenatals!
Anything from Pink Blush! They sent me a package of maternity-friendly goodies, and I’m stoked because they actually fit me. Haha. I’m very tall and when I have a bump, lots of stuff becomes too short for me. The extra length is wonderful, and room for a bump to grow of course!
My raw food prenatal vitamins from Garden of Life! They’re the best — I’ve been taking them for three years (I took them while pregnant with Grace and during breastfeeding too.) I linked them below. I buy them in bulk on Amazon!
Target maternity leggings are another thing I’ve been obsessed with. I linked the ones I just bought — up until this point I had no pants that fit me lol. See below for what I’ve purchased so far that is super bump-friendly! I bought the under-belly leggings in a x-small, and the over-belly moto panel ones in a size small.
