I put this together on a whim this past weekend, and let my girls play with it today. It was such a hit, that I knew I had to share! I’ve always had sensory bins in my classroom (when I was teaching), but I never thought to use them in our home too. Here is our easy Halloween sensory bin.
Halloween Sensory Bin for Toddlers
This activity is great for ages 2-5, and can easily be scaffolded (adjusted) by age group!
Halloween Sensory Bin Supply List
01. Halloween Objects (I found these teeth, eyeballs, and spiders on Target in 20 packs for under $3 each!)
02. One large tub (per kid, preferably). I had this one lying around, thankfully!
03. 5-7 pounds of cheap white rice. I used two big boxes of Minute Rice from Costco. (I also used oatmeal for my 18 month old).
04. A sensory scooper. Mine are old, but this pack is the exact same thing.
Halloween Sensory Bin Assembly Instructions
Simply pour the rice into the bin, then add all of the objects! Kids can take the objects out and sort them into a tray, or just put them all into a small container. They keep searching until they find all of the objects! It kept mine busy for about an hour! I just let them play in the rice/oatmeal afterwards. The best part? My Dyson vacuum cleaned up any stray oatmeal or rice pretty quickly 😉 It’s a fairly low mess scale activity, and great for those fine motor skills!
I hope this Halloween sensory bin activity was helpful to you! I would love to see it if you do try it out, so please send it to me or tag me (@livingincolorblog) on Instagram, and I’ll share your creation!
Thank you so much for reading!
