Do you seek out friends who are much older than yo

Do you seek out friends who are much older than you? I’ve found myself really enjoying conversations with people who are in a completely different season of life than I am, and it’s so comforting. The other day I talked to my neighbor who is a good 30 years older than I am, she has a daughter that’s my age, and yet we chatted about things we are both extremely passionate about. We talked sourdough, cooking, meal planning, and home decor. All topics that were completely universal...and my cup was so full after. I don’t know if it’s me craving extra social interaction after this crazy year or if I’m just a total extravert, but either way, I’m going to make it a point to have more conversations with people I encounter in the future even if I don’t feel like I have the energy. 🙂

Do you wear white even if you’re a mom? I used to be scared of white + kids but I say just go for it! 💯 Styling this cozy cream sweater two ways. The first is a hiking-friendly outfit with @blundstoneusa boots and a @patagonia puffer jacket. The other is a cozier indoor look with @madewell mules I’ve had forever. Which would you wear? Post snow day blues! It’s all melting! We don’t get snow often here, but when we do, it’s such a magical wonderland. 🌲

Did you get snow this weekend? We spent a lot of time doing puzzles, making homemade applesauce, banana bread baked oatmeal, and watching the birds flock to our back yard feeder! 🐤

I had to refill our feeders halfway through the weekend. Did you know that birds need more energy when it’s colder so they’ll eat more frequently just to sustain their bodies through the night? They’re pretty remarkable creatures. (p.s. you have to swipe to the last slide to see a video of a little warbler at our feeder! This cutie visited us all weekend and I hope they remember to come back after the snow!) ✨

Finding warmth and beauty in a season that tells us that life should be cold and barren. What are you doing to stay cheery mid-winter? ✨

We are baking bread...almost daily, (focaccia is just divine 😍), reading by the fire, taking up new hobbies, like sewing and photography, bundling up for walks in our woolen layers, and dreaming up our spring garden 🤗

Had someone ask me if I was my kids’ nanny yeste

Had someone ask me if I was my kids’ nanny yesterday. 😅 Then they noticed my “mom” necklace. I’m not sure whether I should be offended or flattered. It was probably the vans I was wearing 🙃

In other news, I posted a new video to my YouTube channel! Our potty training approach and a Q+A from the questions you guys had a couple weeks back after we potty trained N in three days! Would love to know your thoughts or if you have any additional questions!

What time do you start dinner? I used to start it

What time do you start dinner? I used to start it super late (sometimes like 6 PM!) but I felt so rushed to cook and have it on the table + eaten so we could head upstairs for bedtime, so I changed things up. Now I start prepping for dinner time around 3:30 or 4 most days. I find it’s much more relaxing to prepare when I’m not rushing myself. I’m not sure if you feel the same way, but I’m snappy and not as enjoyable to be around when I’m rushed so taking my time and trying to eliminate hurry benefits our whole family.

Also, this is actually what I wore this past Saturday for a family hike! Leggings because it was a 4 mile (mostly incline) endeavor, long socks and @birkenstock sandals until we got to the trail, then I switched to my boots + a long sleeve tee I found on @poshmark and my wool sweater to stay warm. Oh and coffee. 🤗 Happy Monday, friends! #larissawears

Spring is almost here, and we’ve been observing the birds daily. We have this same hummingbird that comes to our feeder and the girls are just smitten. They’ve named it and everything. 😂 What’s your favorite thing about spring? I have some linen dresses on the way that I’m looking forward to wearing!

Have you guys jumped on the sourdough starter train yet? Any tips from you seasoned sourdough friends? What’s your favorite sourdough recipe to make? Next up for us is pizza and focaccia this week 😱✨

Are you an early riser? Or a night owl? Fellow parents, what time to do you go to bed at night? Around 8:30 pm I tell myself I’ll go to bed super early that night, and then I’m typically up past midnight! Sometimes much later, and I so desperately want to be a morning person. 🌞 I’ve got to find a way to break this vicious cycle! Are you an early riser? Tell me all your secrets!
