Last week I was wearing shorts and tank tops and this week I’m wearing cozy knits. 😅 Is it too late in the year to do a favorite shorts review? I feel like shorts for women are SO difficult to come by. You want to be modest.... but not wear shorts so long that you feel like they may as well be pants. (Remember capris?) 😂 anyway, if you’d be up for a review of my favorite shorts from my humble wardrobe, let me know and I’ll put together a quick round-up. Maybe I’ll even do a video try-on because I only 3-4 pairs! I’ll link to these exact ones in my stories ❤️ #larissawears

The Autumnal Equinox was yesterday, it’s raining

The Autumnal Equinox was yesterday, it’s raining today, and all of my sweaters come out. 😬 Anyone else having the coziest, candle-worthy + warm tea fall-ish weather this morning? 🍂 #larissawears

These legit taste like cake pops 😍 but they’r

Now that we can breathe the air outside we haven’t been indoors much. 🔆 Yesterday we took our family Sabbath. It was one of our favorites so far. I’ve explained how we do this before but for those who don’t know about it, every Friday evening, husband and I put our phones down and take Saturday off of social media + phones completely.
.
We focus on our family, on worship, and on rest. Yesterday we woke up and went on a three hour hike with the girls after breakfast and coffee. After coming home, we had lunch and we both read (I did my devotional reading then some leisure reading) on the couch while our five-year-old sketched right next to us and our toddler napped upstairs. We both even snuck in a cat nap. It was extremely peaceful. 😍

When our toddler woke up we all played in the back yard for a while and then my husband played with each of the girls while I got some stuff ready to bake with my five-year-old. One of my favorite Sabbath traditions is baking a giant cookie in a skillet and then setting it on our dining room table. We all eat it together from the dish with our own spoons and my kids think it’s hilarious. 😂 (and because we don’t glorify sweets, we totally ate it before dinner and then I made a quick and easy dinner for us to eat!)

Something new we tried this week was playing music together. I know it sounds vanilla, but it was so special. We have some percussion instruments, a keyboard, and my husband his acoustic guitar. My husband played some chords and the girls made up their words to their own songs. I loved seeing their faces light up. After, we ended the night with stories and bedtime.

Once the girls were in bed I completed a session from the mini photography course I’m taking. I’ve wanted to get better at photography, as I dabble in it quite a bit but never sat down to learn the fundamentals properly. I’ve made it a point to try new things and push myself this year and so far, it’s going well. I feel like I’m growing. I feel like I’m learning, and I honestly loved our day yesterday so much. I look forward to it every week. I hope my kids look back on our weekend traditions someday when they’re older with a particular fondness. ❤️

#enwcminibeastsweek (from @raisinglittleshoots #exploringnaturewithchildren) is kind of a dud for us this week. 😓 We can’t hike to see these critters in their natural habitat due to the air quality. However, I did find this video of a woolly bear caterpillar that I took a couple of weeks ago on one of our hikes. My girls named him and talked about all of the things they would do with him if he could come live at our house. ☺️

Did you know?
🍂 they’re also known as the banded woolly bear.
🍂 when woolly bear caterpillars change they turn into the Isabella Tiger Moth.
🍂 they can be found in the United States and southern Canada.
🍂 the width of the black bands is believed to predict the severity of the coming winter: the narrower the bands, the milder the weather will be.

The response to my “15 affordable slow fashion brands” post was overwhelming. Do you guys have any other items you’d like to see #slowfashion substitutes for? I know #nursingfriendly style is always something I get questions on 😅 I am on consecutive year 5 of nursing (between two kids) so I’ve been dressing for it for quite awhile! Let me know if there’s anything else you would like to see on the slow fashion front! I love writing and sharing about it. 😬 #larissawears #gifted
